Vinted Shoppers Express Displeasure About Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
